Over the past 75 years, the textile industry has undergone extraordinary changes and the vast majority of clothing and fabrics are now made with oil. Deeply Disturbed: The Emergent Forests of the Future

Peter Del Tredici will talk about the impacts of climate change, urbanization, and invasive species on the forests of the Northeast. The evening will begin at 6:30 with light refreshments, followed by the lecture at 7:00. Peter has been a long-time, active voice in horticulture, botany, and landscape architecture. He worked for Harvard University from 1972 on, at the Harvard Forest, the Arnold Arboretum, and the Graduate School of Design. He has lectured widely on urban ecology and the role that plants play in making cities more livable. Sponsored by the Weston Tree Advisory Group.

The planned expansion of private jet hangars at Hanscom Airfield in Bedford, MA could dramatically increase private jet traffic. Given that a private jet emits 4-15 times as much carbon per person as a commercial jet, this expansion alone could negate all the work that Massachusetts towns have been doing to tackle the climate crisis. will host a free film screening of Rory Fielding's documentary "We're All Plastic People Now" at 35 Church Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Watch the Trailer on YouTube.

The film addresses the global plastic pollution crisis and features Oceana's Plastics Campaign Director Christy Leavitt and Oceana board member Ted Danson. It also shows the chilling reality of how pervasive plastic pollution is in our lives. Plastic is everywhere from the air we breathe to the water we drink.
